Starting a new business is scary. But it’s also extremely exciting. I have had more energy since we made the decision to start IMPACTfull Life than I’ve had in a long time. Why? Because having a definite goal and a plan to make it happen is both inspiring and motivating.
I’ve also noticed that working on this business doesn’t even feel like work. I have to make myself stop and go to bed. It’s an awesome feeling to have something in your life that you enjoy doing and can’t get enough of. The idea of living a “want-to” life instead of a “have -o” life, and inspiring and helping others to do the same, has lit a fire under me, and I hope to keep that fire burning.
A couple of things that I have learned in starting this business that might help you on your journey:
1. You better have a plan. Begin with the end in mind and reverse engineer to where you are now.
2. You better be willing to invest some time in researching the things you don’t know.
3. You better get control of your schedule, especially if you are starting a “side hustle” on top of a full-time job,
4. You better pick a business that you love because you are going to be immersed in it.
5. You better set aside time to unwind and recharge, because your mind will be working overtime and burnout is real.
6. You better believe it’s never as easy as it looks on paper.
7. You better learn to set aside time for family.
8. You better start figuring out workflow systems early.
9. You better be proficient on the computer, or willing to learn.
10. You better be willing to learn from those who are already successful.
I am only just starting to figure things out, and it’s amazing to learn something new every day. I never knew how much I didn’t know. Our journey’s only just beginning, but so far it’s fun to ride the wave.
